About KARE

Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) was established in 1984 by the pioneering Kalasalingam Anandam Ammal Charities. Located in the scenic foothills of the Western Ghats in Krishnankoil, Tamil Nadu, KARE has been re-accredited by NAAC with an 'A++' grade (CGPA 3.51) in 2024.

In the NIRF Rankings 2025, KARE is ranked 28th under the University category, 33rd under Engineering and 48th overall. Twelve engineering programmes are NBA Tier-1 accredited and four B.Tech programmes are accredited by ABET — making KARE unique in India for the number of ABET-accredited courses.

The University has received DST funding for the National Centre for Advanced Research in Discrete Mathematics and runs the state-of-the-art Sir C.V. Raman Research Centre. Through the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), KARE now extends this legacy beyond the campus with flexible UG and PG online degree programmes.
