The department was established during the inception of the institute in 1993. Since its commencement, the primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training and research at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering with broad emphasis on design aspects of electronic systems.
The major areas of faculty expertise of the department include Communications, Advanced DSP, Biomedical and Speech Processing, Control, Instrumentation, VLSI, Image Processing and Computer Vision, Power System and Power Electronics.
The department offers the following degrees: B. Tech (in Electronics & Communication Engineering), M. Tech (in two specializations: Digital Communication Networks and VLSI Design) and Ph. D. (in various specialization areas of faculty expertise as mentioned above).

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, as evident from its nomenclature and nature imbedded therein, has the proud privilege of being an indispensable department, since it provides a bed-rock for strongly structuring the edifice of Computer Science & Engineering and its first kin Information & Technology which serves as foundation for Electronics.
The Department has well-equipped labs fitted with the latest kit and most advanced equipments within easy reach so as to give our students practical hands on experience. A regular upgrading of the equipments is an ongoing process so as to enable our students to keep pace with the amazing development. This enables the department to disseminate desired knowledge to the aspirants in a broader perspective.
The Department has a distinction of its own having on its rolls a sizeable number of its faculty members with a decade of experience in their respective areas of specialization providing this department a cutting-edge over other branches. An enviable envisioning, deft designing a well-pruned planning of lessons and their exquisite execution enables the students to get hold of the fundamentals of this significant branch. Special Lectures are organized regularly on personality development, confidence-building, communication skills, group discussions etc. to help the students develop a rounded personality and to develop themselves into unbeatable and successful professionals so as to prove themselves to be a precious asset to any organization they choose to join.
